To this day, the founding location Ursberg is the largest location of the Dominikus-Ringeisen-Werk.
The foundation has set itself the task of accompanying and caring for people with mental disabilities, people with multiple disabilities who are also physically and / or sensory impaired, as well as people with mental illnesses, autistic disorders.
The age does not play a role here. The facilities and the services are extensive. Depending on the location and region, a wide range of offers can be found. From apartments in various forms of housing, early intervention, special schools with day care centers, vocational training center, to medical care center, almost every niche is covered.
Approximately 900 people with disabilities live in Ursberg in the Bavarian-Swabian district of Günzburg, the headquarters of the church foundation. More than 1,000 employees work here for Dominikus-Ringeisen-Werk.
In a network of offers, workshops and facilities, the most modern professionalism is lived with the tradition of the founder Dominikus-Ringeisen (1835-1904) and shaped in a future-oriented way.
This network includes electrical company, painting, interior decoration, heating construction, construction company, locksmith’s shop, sanitary company, carpenter’s shop, sawmill as well as gardening and landscaping.
During the reconstruction and new construction with a total investment of approx. 5.5 million euros and in order to meet the increasing requirements, a new canteen kitchen was designed for the catering of the entire facility.
For the hygienically demanding areas of kitchen, food storage and cold storage rooms, it was decided to use GRP sandwich panels from Hydewa GmbH for the insulation and surfaces.
Since the foundation of the GmbH, the company has specialized in system development, sales and ultimately also project-specific building hygiene through its own production.
Hydewa’s premium product in this respect is Glasbord®, which – not least due to the non-porous Surfaseal surface finish – is used in food processing plants, in the kitchen catering sector, as well as in the medical sector due to its excellent hygiene conditions and fire classification (B-s2-d0 ≙ B1).
Christine Goßner (facility management, utilities site Ursberg) was convinced by Glasbord®.
“We decided on a classic white panel color. It makes our rooms look large, bright and friendly.
Since the panels are applied over the entire surface, the walls and, in some cases, the ceilings are very easy to clean.
Adhering dirt is gone with a wipe, and high-dosage chemicals can be dispensed with.
Due to the partially insulating effect of the panels, we will have a stable room climate, and due to the specially designed surface, we will not have as much sound transmission as in the old kitchen, even compared to the classic tile.
We are looking forward to many years that we may now spend in the new kitchen in a pleasant room and working climate.”
Another aspect of why Glasbord® was chosen is the low proportion of joints, the durability and robustness of the material.
28 employees, 9 people with disabilities and a multifunctional kitchen technology enable the implementation of a future-oriented communal catering of approx. 490 meal guests and approx. 10,000 lunches and dinners per week.
The professional assembly was carried out by STADLER ISOBAU GmbH (www.stadler-gmbh.de). The company, founded in 1973, has decades of experience in panel building and has been an authorized specialist for Hydewa products for around 20 years. At the same time the enterprise offers solutions within the range isolating and ventilation engineering.
In this project, a total of 2,100 m² of panels were installed on an area of 1,164 m².
All in all, a final result that meets the high quality standards of the client Dominikus-Ringeisen-Werk.
