GRP panels
GRP UNIVERSALLY APPLICABLE
Glass fiber reinforced plastics are made from reinforcing materials, various resins and other additives. During production, glass fibers or glass fiber mats are impregnated with synthetic resin and, if necessary, sealed so that a homogeneous composite is created. Hydewa offers the following variants of standard GRP:
GRP WITHOUT FINISHING (LX-E)
In this case, the sheets of glass fiber reinforced plastic are produced without special surface finishing. This is the most cost-effective variant. Since synthetic resin always has small blowholes (pores) due to the production process, microorganisms/particles can settle there. Unfinished GRP material is therefore suitable for many hygienic areas, but not for the very highest demands or stresses.
GELCOAT (LX-P)
Gelcoat means that the GRP surface is sealed with a special synthetic resin-based hard coating. This seals open pores and provides increased resistance to chemicals (such as cleaning agents).
Hydewa offers standard GRP both as sheet material for direct bonding and as a top layer for sandwich panels. GRP is available flat or textured and in various thicknesses.

Advantages of textured material over flat material:
- Unevenness & scratches are not so obvious
- repairs are hardly visible
- slower run-off of cleaning foam -> longer exposure time
- reduces eye fatigue due to diffuse light reflection
- valuable impression

Special colors at an extra charge according to RAL from a purchase quantity of 500 m² (on request)
Hydewa offers GRP as sheet material. This can be supplied as cut-to-size sheets standard dimensions: width 1.20 m and length 2.10 to 3.50 m.
GRP is available flat or textured and in various thicknesses (common are 2.0 mm or 3 mm).
GRP can be applied directly to the existing wall surfaces by means of an applicator system or by hand. A specially adapted, elastic adhesive is used for this purpose. The full-surface application promises a safe, fast and hygienically flawless result without cavities.

GRP surfaces are also used by us for sandwich panels – e.g. for insulation or as partition panels – in the interior.
Depending on the application, the panels are built up with different core materials. Classically, expanded polystyrene (EPS), but also polyurethanes (PU), honeycomb panels, polyisocyanurates (PIR) and mineral wool (MW) are used for this purpose.
